Does Google Feel Threatened by Twitter? The Corporate Housing Blog

Let’s move from the personal side of social media to the business component. I recently heard that — and even without Twitter not yet having gained measurable or extremely substantial income yet – Google offered Twitter $500 million to purchase their site. Wow. Clearly, Twitter knows they have something amazing going on, and Google may, in fact, be threatened by them.

Initially, I thought Twitter was just a venue where people wrote: “Heading to Starbucks for a Latte”, or “In a layover at JFK”. I did not know that professionals are actually utilizing Twitter as a search engine. That blows my mind! Correct me if I’m mistaken, but it sounds sort of like (and, I have not used Twitter in any real capacity yet) an “ePinions.com” meets Amazon.com’s “product reviews section meets Google’s powerful search engine.

I don’t know about you, but I’m anxious to launch my social media career and allow the proof (to be) in the pudding. Will my social media efforts be as strategic — and rewarding — as the media says it can be? Will it be as profitable as consultants promise — in terms of new, qualified connections made? We shall see.
We invite you to share any/all experiences you have had with any of the Social Media Sites… listed to the right.
Let’s get this party started!
