Time for a Little Spring Cleaning for your Corporate Housing?

Posted on 05. Mar, 2010 by Kat Schneider Fotheringham in Blog, Business Travel, Uncategorized, corporate housing, executive accommodations, international business travel

In an economy and an environment that is increasingly competitive, not to mention more global every day, the more your corporate housing property stands out, the better.

Recently we’ve discussed themed housing,” where you transform your property into an English cottage garden, for example, or a tropical paradise.  This type of transformation has the potential to make your property just that much more memorable to guests and residents, and helps spread positive buzz or word of mouth, the most powerful form of marketing.

Now it’s time we all rolled up our sleeves, made a checklist, and did a little spring cleaning to get our corporate housing investments into the best shape possible, to attract and build business long-term.

But you don’t have to take your guests to Great Britain to offer them high quality, memorable and buzz-worthy accommodations.  Consider just upping the quality of the amenities you do offer–higher thread count sheets, more substantial blankets for the bed and sofa, a better selection of cable programming, perhaps even a March madness basketball package for those individuals who are going to be traveling away from home during a big event like the NCAA college basketball tournament

Better quality snacks like low-fat and low-calorie selections of the typical fare you’d find in an extended stay hotel, like low-fat nuts, candies or beverages.  These days, everyone is watching their weight and what they eat for a variety of health reasons, so it’s smart to make sure you are keeping up with what people want and need, if that’s something you traditionally offer your guests.

Even making sure the standard business residence wi-fi is up to par and well-managed at all times is more important than you might imagine.  Nothing makes a business guest more nervous or irritated than not being able to access the internet and communicate with their colleagues, bosses and families.  Be sure you are offering the most reliable wi-fi or internet service you can.  It only takes one outage or issue to leave a really bad taste in your guests’ mouth.  They’ll never come back and they’ll make certain they tell their supervisors about their experience, if for no other reason so that they know it was the internet service you provided and not them that slowed down their off-site productivity.

Now’s the time to do some real spring cleaning, and to make certain that you improve, polish and enhance your corporate housing and amenities so they will make the brightest impression on your guests, and have a positive impact on your bottom line.
