New poll says kids on the plane a big annoyance factor

A poll released earlier this week revealed some challenging–though not too surprising news for business travelers.

Most consumers say they’d like a families-only section on flights, according to a poll released Tuesday. Nearly 60% of more than 2,000 travelers polled by Skyscanner, the airfare-comparison website, say they want airlines to create a families-only section. Almost 20% said they’d prefer child-free flights altogether.

Skyscanner posted the poll on its site Aug. 11-23, after a settlement last month between Qantas and a 67-year-old American passenger who sued the Australian airline after a 3-year-old screamed on her flight last year. .

Not surprisingly, most poll respondents in favor of creating a families-only section said they don’t have young children and “want to sit as far away as possible” from them.

A Skyscanner spokeswoman agrees with the findings, that results of the unscientific poll are not surprising. A previous poll found that young children are the “most annoying” factor on flights.

Ok, I give.  Kids can be tough to fly with.  They can also provide some much needed levity on a long flight after a tough day :-)
